Sporting Breed Rescue and Adoption
Yard Sale Fundraiser...
"We are collecting items in newer and good condition for a fundraiser sale for the Lab Rescue. We are hoping to raise enough funds to pay off our Veterinary bills so that the Rescue can continue running and not be closed down.
If you don't have items to donate, but would like to make a monetary donation you can do so securely through www.utahlabrescue.com/donate.htm.
All proceeds will be going directly to our Veterinarians in Provo and Murray. If you would like to make your donation directly to them, please e-mail the Rescue for their information.
Corporate donations can be accepted and are fully tax deductible! Please e-mail for more information.
Please spread the word about the Lab Rescue fundraiser. We are in desperate need at this time and do not want to have to close our "doors". We do not receive any government funding and rely solely on the adoption fees.
If it wasn't for the hard work of volunteers and donaters throughout the years, thousands Labradors would not have been saved. Please help us stay open so we can save thousands more.
Thank you for your support and kindness!"
Donations Desperately Needed...
The Lab Rescue is solely funded by their adoption fees and donations from the public. At this time they have a large amount of Vet bills and boarding fees due to the rescue dogs having more medical needs than their adoption fees could cover. If you would like to make a financial donation to the Labrador Rescue, no amount is too small - every dollar will allow us to help pay off the Vet bills and boarding fees. We are so grateful to those who have donated and supported our efforts, and to those who will in the future.
To donate securely online through PayPal:
Or you can send a donation directly to our participating veterinarian at:
The SL Spay and Neuter Clinic - 160 W. 4800 S. SLC, Ut. 84107 (801)262-6414
(Make in honor of the Utah Lab Rescue; check, debit/credit, & cash accepted.)
If donating food and/or supplies is a more convenient way to help, the rescue very much needs these items: Large Breed Adult and Puppy dry food, towels/blankets/sheets, crates (lrg, xlg, giant), chew toys, and any other items you would like to donate. The Vet listed above will accept drop-offs for donations as well, just let them know it is for the Lab Rescue. Thank you so much for helping, we appreciate your support!
Pet Of The Week!
This cute fluff ball is Twinkie! He is a Lab/Border Collie mixed pup, that is about 9 months old. He is the last of a litter of 11, and is still waiting for his new forever home. His foster home says he's a playful/active little guy with a great temperament and personality. He is crate trained, housebroken, and learning his basic commands. Please click his picture for more info, thanks!
~ 'No Labrador Left Behind'~
We are starting a new campaign for the lovable senior Labs, 'No Labrador Left Behind!'. Nothing breaks our hearts more than seeing a sweet senior Lab die in a shelter. Either an owner didn't care to look for them, forgot about them, traded them in for new puppy, or ended up there because the family was going through a tough time. It hurts to look into their forgiving eyes and know that after years of loving and loyalty to an owner, they have been left to spend their last days in a dark and scary shelter.
We hope to end this for all senior Labradors with the Peykos Memorial Fund. This fund has been set up in honor of our beloved Peykos (he too was a discarded senior) to provide a way out of the shelters for all senior Labs in our State. No Lab deserves to spend his last days alone and scared, and then put to death all because of old age.
But we need your help to get this started. Seniors need medical care, special diets, medication, and most importantly loving homes for their last days, months or years. No matter how long they have left, they all deserve to be pampered in the end.
If you would like to donate any supplies, food, space, or make a monetary donation, please contact info@utahlabrescue.com. Donations can be made in honor of your own sweet senior who is still with you, or has passed on to the Rainbow Bridge. All donations made specifically to the Peykos Memorial Fund will be used soley for the rescue of senior Labradors from the City shelters, and their care.
Want to foster a senior rescued by this program? All medical needs will be met, and foster homes will be provided with supplies needed as well. Without homes for them to go to, we cannot rescue them, so foster homes are one of the most important parts of our Rescue.
Thank you for your support - we know the Labradors saved will be forever grateful! There is no greater love than that of a Lab in his golden years!
Can't Adopt, But Want To Foster/Volunteer?
We are always looking for more foster homes and volunteers as that is what keeps this Rescue running. There are multiple ways you can work with the Rescue:
Foster Homes: Fosters are provided with the basic supplies needed, and are always in desperate need as we are only able to rescue when we have an open foster home. There is a volunteer/foster home application available online at
www.utahlabrescue.com. Fostering is a great way to show support and help save lives if adopting isn't an option.
Volunteers: We have multiple needs for volunteers. As the weather continues to get warmer will start doing adoption events again and need volunteers at these events.
We also are starting a new program working directly with each City Shelter. We want to have multiple volunteers representing our Rescue and working with their own City Shelters and the Labs at them. These volunteers will meet and spend time with available Labs, do temperament tests, check for basic health issues, test for obedience, and take pictures/video of them. We hope that by providing all of this to the public they will adopt more Labs from the shelters, especially as we are not able to rescue but maybe 10% of all those that need it.
If you would like to become a foster home or volunteer please go to
www.utahlabrescue.com and fill out the online foster/volunteer form. You can also contact us at info@utahlabrescue.com. Thank you so much for helping us to save lives!
BIG Thank You's!!!
We wanted to take the time to thank our wonderful Veterinarian's Dr. Daines at the Salt Lake Spay and Neuter Clinic, and All About Pets Veterinary Services in Provo! Thank you so much for your kindness and excellent services to both the public and rescue groups! We also wanted to give a HUGE thank you to our wonderful foster homes, they are the reason why we can save lives! Thank you to Creekside Boarding for helping us provide temporary space for needy Lab. And thank you SO much to Anna with Puppenschnoodles Dog Training for all the great work you do for the dogs, both with training and nutrition.
Who We Are
We are Utah's first and only Labrador Retriever Club and Rescue, started in the fall of 2002. Our rescue also takes in many other sporting breeds such as Pointers, Spaniels, Weimaraners, Setters, and even some x-large breeds. We hae re-located to SL County, and run this from our home. Being run from our home, space and funding is very limited, and we can only take in a Lab at a time. Please be considerate of this. Also, please no calls before 9am or after 9pm. Thank you.
Our goal is to educate the public about the Labrador and its over breeding here in our State. Through this education we hope to lower the rate of breeding, increase the number of adoptions, and lower the extremely high amount Labs being euthanized at our shelters every day.

In Loving Memory Of Peykos...
Peykos was a fun-loving, beautiful, sweet Lab that we loved so dearly. He was originally a rescued dog, but was adopted by the Rescue's founder. He was a joy in their lives, a wonderful companion and dear friend. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten, and always loved.
